The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Associate Manager is responsible for all aspects of the EHS strategy and functions to ensure the regulatory compliance, safety, health, and welfare of all plant employees, the community, and the environment. The EHS Associate Manager develops, implements and drives all EHS continuous improvement plans by meeting or exceeding all federal, state, local, and company standards.

 

This position is responsible for supporting the responsibilities at the Pet Nutrition Center campus located in Topeka, Kansas.

 

Principal duties and responsabilities: 

 

  • Establish strategic site plans and roadmaps for safety performance.
  • Ensures all annual safety compliance training is delivered, completed, and tracked.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements EHS continuous improvement related projects and is
  • responsible for ensuring preventative and corrective action is taken for all EHS issues.
  • Establish strategic site plans and roadmaps for environmental performance.
  • Sets facility EHS KPI (Key Performance Indicators); monitors performance and reports progress.
  • Develops and manages the EHS budget.
  • Leads all aspects of incident investigation and reporting for safety and environmental issues.
  • Champions the facility First Aid Responder program.
  • Manages facility Emergency Preparedness Program and ensures plan integrity.
  • Administers in-house permitting programs (hot work and confined space).
  • Champions facility security, provides ongoing feedback to the security subcontractor to maximize effectiveness.
  • Support the pursuit of a high-efficiency, low-impact, zero waste facility by developing the roadmap and achieving TRUE Zero Certification for the site.
  • Manages all waste streams for the facility.
  • Provide leadership for the site's Sustainability team by working to integrate appropriate global Colgate sustainability ambitions and targets into the 
  • site's local planning and communications.
  • Lead the site's contractor safety program and contractor qualification process.

 

Requirements: 

 

Basic:  

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • At least six years experience in an EHS role
  • Proficient in compliance management of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations
  • Full knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and reporting requirements including
  • Process Safety Management, waste characterization, TSCA, Serc reporting and air permitting.
     

Preferred:

 

  • At least  five years experience in supervisory role
  • Colgate Palmolive Environmental Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines
  • Certified Safety or Industrial Hygiene professional preferred
  • SAP Skills 

 

Expected areas of skills

 

  • Experience planning and leading cross functional teams, Sustainability projects, and EHS initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
  • Efficient at utilizing Google/Microsoft productivity apps
  • Proficient at multitasking and prioritizing
  • Experience budgeting and tracking project costs
