Colgate-Palmolive invites candidates to apply for the Postdoctoral Research Scientist position based at our Piscataway, NJ location. 

 

This is a two-year postdoctoral position. The core responsibilities of this role include the evaluation of biofunctional actives for personal skin care and cleansing products as well as the development and implementation of predictive non-invasive skin methods to assess performance of benefits. The position will include fundamental and applied research studies of structure/function properties of the skin related to skin health.


Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and deliver in vitro and ex vivo scientific discovery programs based on skin health, skin aging and potential therapeutic interventions
  • Drive the discovery and characterization of new bioactive ingredients or formulated products, and identify new biological targets/mechanisms of action for skin benefits
  • Deliver novel in vitro models, assays, and discovery work using ex vivo human skin, 3D skin equivalents and primary skin cells
  • Develop and implement novel visualization techniques to demonstrate efficacy
  • Collect, analyze, and report high quality data in a timely manner
  • Handle daily laboratory operations support relevant research projects
  • Manage internal and external teamwork


Basic Qualification:
 

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology or any related field
  • Hands on experience with sterile cell culture and primary cells, as well as human/animal tissues
  • Experience with different histological methodologies, such as immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence
  • Strong problem solving skills, project management and execution skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills


Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Knowledge of Dermatology and/or Skin Biology 
  • Hands on experience with human skin cell/tissue culture (keratinocytes, fibroblasts, skin equivalents and explants)
  • Hands on experience with quantitative PCR, ELISA, fluorescent microscope and confocal microscope
  • Hands on experience in pre-clinical evaluation of skin bioactives using human skin cells/tissues 
  • Experience in skin physiology and pathology (e.g. skin inflammation, acne, AD, psoriasis)
