The Scientific Affairs Manager’s position is responsible for leading the Scientific Affairs team consisting of two direct reports (one in the US and one in Canada). The Scientific Affairs team is responsible for building and strengthening the scientific image of Colgate in North America. There is a focus on building external relationships and partnerships with experts, associations and the dental profession through leading relevant projects and developing communication tools. Communication and training internally are a significant part of the role along with overseeing COP’s Compliance Program.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Key Thought Leader Management
● Responsibility for leading all communications with Key Thought Leaders (KTLs) at all levels. This would include management of any Advisory Boards, development of regular communication, distribution of materials and identification of KTLs of the future.
2. Project Management
● Responsibility for the management and initiation of projects to support agreed strategies such as Public Health projects and Networking Studies.
3. Technology Transfer
● Act as the primary point of contact between COP and the Technology Center to leverage their scientific publications and relationships for the benefit of COP. In addition the position is the primary point of scientific contact for the Field and Academic teams.
4. Scientific Communications
● Leadership and overall responsibility for Scientific Communications.
5. Participate in Marketing Projects to give scientific/dental professional insight and develop supporting education plans.
6. Oversee maintenance and implementation of COP’s Compliance Program (CPPG).
Basic qualifications:
● PhD in a Life Science and/or a Dentist required.
● Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in academia, oral care, pharmaceutical or other related industry.
● High level of initiative, assertiveness and self-direction.
● Results oriented and ability to influence others.
● Excellent communication skills (internal, external and at all levels).
● Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills.
● Demonstrated creativity, curiosity and strategic thinking skills.
● Able to work on multiple projects at a time while delivering strong results.
Preferred qualifications:
● Oral Care Sciences and Brand Knowledge.
● Professional Partnership Building.
● Professional, Consumer and Competitive Insight.
