The Professional Veterinary Affairs (PVA) Specialist will serve as an essential role in liaising with marketing and customer development to define local strategy and plan to drive veterinary channel Brand recommendation (Brand Recommend Most Often - BRMO) and share, with focus on: 

 

  • enhancing Hill’s image with key veterinary and thru congresses

  • leading to veterinary endorsement, recommendation and use of Hill’s products in Mexican veterinary clinics.  The role works closely with the LATAM Manager of Professional Veterinary Affairs to implement strategy-driven plans for key target audiences including:  Key Thought Leaders (academic and non-academic); practicing veterinarians; non-veterinarian health care team members in practices; students and faculty at veterinary and technician schools; and, Hill’s Mexico Veterinary Territory Representatives.

  • positioning Hill’s in the profession as an important scientific, innovative and credible partner who is engaged in improving the health of dogs and cats and in supporting the profession as the key instrument in delivering the Hill’s mission to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.

  • strengthening veterinarians’ understanding and knowledge of our products and to making nutrition a more integral part of veterinary medicine by educating veterinarians to implement  a nutritional assessment and specific dietary recommendation for Every Pet, Every Time.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

Internal 

  • Builds and grows positive relationships with cross-functional peers 

  • Ensures that all Hill’s contacts and communications to consistently meet the professional, ethical and regulatory standards demanded by the veterinary community and the corporation (incl. CP Code of Conduct, FCPA, anti-bribery and pet food regulations, etc.

 

Commercial 

  • Ensure integration of PVA strategies connecting with local commercial team working closely with Customer development and, Marketing to ensure close alignment and consistency 

  • Provide technical training of field (key clients), distributors & office commercial team 

  • Consulted by marketing for scientific content of communication materials to ensure compliance to latest tech / vet local knowledge 

 

Professional Affairs: 

  • Engage with key thought leaders that will result in increased endorsement and sales of the company products

  • Identifies, builds and sustains critical relationships and networks with current and future experts, thought leaders, academic institutions, veterinary and technician associations and internal peers in various departments.

  • Defines strategies and tactics for building partnerships based on knowledge of Hill’s Professional Strategy and awareness of what the competition is doing.

  • In collaboration with the LATAM Vet Affairs Manager and the VTRs, leads the identification of joint projects to work on with experts, including private practice specialists, academia including house officers, and other thought leaders

  • Guarantee that all the presentations and technical materials are updated to reinforce the knowledge and science engagement of the brand

  • Define strategy on the social media checking all the content that need to be posted

 

Academic Affairs: 

  • Oversees the implementation of a plan that: Identifies key contacts at academic institutions. 

  • Works through VTRs  to identify and develop opportunities for educating next generation of veterinary professionals 

  • Defines, plans together with LATAM Vet Affairs Manager, and implements a mechanism for veterinary students and selected technician schools to gain experience with Hill’s products in a cost-effective way. 

  • Works  to continually assess needs and opportunities to create a working partnership that results in sound nutritional training for veterinary students and residents

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

  • Minimum 3 years industry experience

  • Master degree or post-graduation in dogs and cat nutrition desirable

  • Practice experience desirable

  • Demonstrated ability in coaching and training supported by several years of related experience

  • Self-starter with high initiative

  • General computer skills, strong organization and time management skill

  • Advanced English
